Analysis on Surveillance Results of Syphilis of Public Places Workers in A Certain County 1998-2002

Objective To learn the epidemic status of syphilis in public places workers. Methods Using PCR and TPHA to examine 21 509 public places workers. Results There were 82 cases positive with both PCR and TPHA methods. The infection rate was 38.12 per ten thousand. Among the infectors, the rate of covert infection was 91.40% ,the rate of unmarried was 45.57%; the rate of age 20-39 was 80.48%; and the rate of middle school educated degree was 79.26%. There was a remarkable diflerence between hairdressing workers and other occupations;(X2=3.46%,P2=4.92%,P<0.05).Conclusions It was necessary to strengthen the surveillance and education about syphilis in public places workers.
