Analysis of 135 SARS Cases Infected in SARS Chain of Transmission in Taiyuan City

Objective To explore the main cause of SARS chain of transmission and the interventions and tactics against SARS. Method 336 cases of SARS and those who had had close contacts with a SARS sufferer were analyzed. Results It was found that SARS transmission took place concentratedly in hospitals and in family members, mainly occuring in the initial stage of the epidemic. SARS chain of transmission was subject to form among those people who were over 50 years old. The mortality of the cases in the group of the SARS chain of transmission was 8.89%,significantly higher than that of the cases in the group of non - SARS chain of transmission. Conclusion Early detection.swift contact tracing,prompt isolation and quar-antine are at present the most effective measures to contain SARS.
