Analysis on Status of Contamination Caused by Legionella in Some kinds of Water in Guangzhou in 2003

Objective To learn the status of contamination caused by Legionella in some kinds of water in Guangzhou city in 2003. Methods Isolation and Culture and PCR technics were applied to study 121 water samples from Guangzhou city in 2003. Results 31 Legionella strains were detected out,and the detection rate was 25.6% (31/121). In public places,the detection rate of Legionella of cooling tower water was 43.48%. Conclusion Some kinds of water in Guangzhon city had been polluted by Legionella,especially for the cooling tower water. We should pay more attentio to the problem and take measures to prevent Legionella's disease.
