  • Objective The central purpose of the present study was to investigate and practice the second generation surveillance for venereal diseases and HIV and cohort intervention of prostitutes. Methods From Sept of 2001 to Sept of 2002，184 prostitutes underwent serological，dinical and behavior monitoring and investigation to evaluate the interventinns on diagnosing and trearing venereal diseases and health education.Results Pre-and post interventional detection rates of several STD in the commercial group as whole were compared It was found that there was a significant difference (P>0.01)be tween the two Dynamic observation of STD infection and progression in prostitutes of cornmercial group revealed a totally decreasing trend with time The subject population had a reinforced willingness to use condoms Conclusion：The 2nd generation surveillance for STD／AIDS and intervention of prostitutes are conducive to the intervention and control of STD／AIDS epidemics.
