Analysis on the Operation of Surveillance System for Routine Immunization Rate in Zhejiang in 2003

Objective The purpose of the present study was to analyze and evaluate the operation of monitoring system for routine immmunization rate in the immunization programme of Zhejiang Province as a whole in order to ameliorate surveillance. Methods Surveillance and assessment were carried out ac cording to the methods regulated by“National Surveillance Protocol for Routine Immunization Rates”，evaluating the timeliness，cornpleteness，immunization rate，estimated immunization rate，differences (D) and ratio ? of reports. Results The basic immunization rates reported in each city within the whole province were all above 97％，while boosters lay between 74-99％.The estimated basic immu-nization rates were between 91-96％.Conclusion The reported basic immunization rate of the whole province continues to be kept at a high levd except certain regions and links that are poor in manage-ment. Particularly the number of people supposed to be subject to immunization is not definitely known Therefore，surveillance of routine immunization rates should be substantially strengthened.
