Serological Epidemiology Investigation of Lyme Disease in Zhejiang Province

Objectives The present study aimed tO understand the epidemic status of Lyme dis-ease in Zhejiang Province so as tO provide scientific evidence for the prevention of Lyme disease．Methods In serological epidemiological investigation，IFAT and ELISA were applied for detect-ing selrum antibody．Results From 2000 tO 2004，investigation was conducted among 1120 people (616 male and 504 female)，including forestry workers from Kaihua of west Zhejiang and Tiantai of middle Zhejiang，peasants often working in mountains and suspicious patients．One person was found to be positive in serum antibody IgG．And the positive ratio was 0.1％．In Lishui of south Zhejiang，516 serum samples were detected，with 46 persons positive，positive ratio 8.99％．A-mong all the samples，273 persons were male with 26 positive，positive ratio 9.5％ and 229 per-sons were female with 20 positive．Positive ratio 8.7％．Conclusion There are persons infected with Lyme disease in Zhejiang Province．Thus it is possible that there exist epidemic natural foci，which still need further verification．
