Analysis of Current Epidemic Situation of Viral Hepatitis in Gulou District of Nanjing Municipality

Objective The present study was conducted to analyze the current epidemic situa-tion of viral hepatitis in Gulou district of Nanjing municipality to provide a scientific foundation for the constitution of strategies for its prevention and treatment．Methods The descriptive study was used to statistically analyze the datum of incidence of viral hepatitis from 1990 to 2004．Results The average incidence rate of viral hepatitis was 81.09 per lakh over the past 15 years，with the highest rate being 194.78 per lakh in 1993．And the lowest rate 19.58 per lakh in 2003．Epidemio— logical typing surveillance showed that the proportion of hepatitis A decreased，and that of hepati—tis B increased．The proportion of hepatitis E is higher than that of hepatitis A in the total popu—lation with viral hepatitis．Conclusion The incidence of viral hepatitis takes on a decreasing ten—dency with hepatitis B predominant in the population with viral hepatitis．Comprehensive measures of prevention and therapy should be taken to reinforce the surveillance and analysis of epidemic situation．Vaccination of adults are to be taken seriously while regular immunization is well main—tained
