Observation on the Immunization Effect of Human Purified Rabies Vaccine in 1270 Cases

  • Objective This study was done to understand current immunization effect of human purified rabies vaccine so as to guide the vaccination for patients with rabies. Methods 1270 exposed cases who voluntarily went to the Outpatient Department of the Division of Disease Control,Sanitation & Antiepidemic Station of Linchuan County, and accepted the human purified rabies vaccine(Vero vaccine) were detected with ELISA for rabies virus antibody. And presence of positive antibody was thought of as a successful vaccination and production of protective antibody.Nevertheless, negative antibody showed that no antibody was produced or the antibody did not reached the protective level. And the detected results were statisticany analyzed. Results 1270 patients with rabies from dog injury were detected and there were 1086 cases who had positive rabies virus antibody, with a overall positive rate of 85.51% (84.83% in male and 86.38% in female). No significant difference in positive rate of antibody between the genders was revealed by X2 test (X2=0.6054,p>0.05).Findings showed that the various age groups had different positive rates of antibody. The rate of the group aged less than 15 years was greatly different from that of the group aged between 15 years and 59 years (X2=30.01,pX2=0.1665,p>0.05).Conclusion Age of an individual has an influence on the production of rabies virus antibody, but overall protective level of the antibody is able to reach 85.51%.Injection of purified rabies vaccine in full course and with standardization is the safest, cheapest and the most effective means for the prevention of rabies.
