Investigation on the Status Quo of Sexual Partner Notification Among Male STD Patients and Study of the Influential Factors

  • Objective This investigation was intended tO learn about the current status of sexual part-ner notification among male STD patients and related influential factors.Methods Cases from 3 STD Out-patient clinics in Liu'an City were collected between Feb and Jul of 2004.356 patients were admin-istered in-depth interview on a questionnaire basis.Results 25.28% of patients would like tO inform partners of their disease status;a sense of humiliation and the level of literacy were primary factors that influenced sexual partner notification (with a P value of 0.001~0.025 and 0.005~0.01 respectively);33.15% of patients were still engaged in sexual behaviors with their partners during sickness;28.08% of patients used condoms in sexual behaviors.Conclusion The current status of sexual partner notifica-tion among male STD patients is worrying.And medical practitioners at STD Out-patient clinics should provide counseling service tO patients in addition tO accommodating diagnosis and therapy,SO as to remove their feeling of humiliation,increase consultancy rate of their partners and reduce risky unprotected sexu-al behaviors.
