Analysis on AIDS Monitoring Results of Drug Users from 2000 to 2003 in Quanzhou City,

Objective The purpose of this analysis was to learn about the epidemiological distribution，HIV infection rate and syphilis positive rate among drug users in Quanzhou city．Methods Serological ELISA was conducted twice tO determine HIV antibodies in serum and positive samples during the first round of screening was sent tO CDC for identification：rapid plasma reagin circle card test (RPR) was used once tO detect syphilis antibodies in serum．Results In these 4 years。1 252 drug users were test—ed．of which a totaI of 10 cases of positive HIV antibody and 114 cases of positive syphilis antibody were detected。With a positive rate of 0.80％ and 9.1 1％ respectively．Conclusion No HIV infection was found in drug users of the whole city，but there existed a risk factor of transmission。Indicating that in—tervention for drug users should be well implemented and the sense of self—protection among drug users should be improved，especially that we should enhance the management on migrant drug users and strengthen self—protection among juveniles．
