Epidemiological Analysis of Deaths among Previous Paid Blood Donors in the City of Puyang

Objective The present study was designed tO investigate the epidemiologieal characteris-tics of death 0f paid blood donors in the past tO provide a basis on which government departments tO take actions．Methods Door-to-door visit tO all homes in the villages was done tO collect data on previous paid blood donors。And for those who had died investigation was made by counseling their families or neighbors．Results It was found that the mean yearly death rate was 136.77/100.000，with a death rate of 191.88/10.000 in male and 68.46/10.000 in female．Death occurred largely between 1996 and 1998，accounting for 56.47％．Injuries were the leading cause of death，with tumors the second．Con-clusion Injuries and tumors are main causes of death in the population investigated．Previous paid blood donors are the weak. Who need tO be cared for and helped by the whole society．
