Contrastive Analysis on the Effects of Pneumonia-like Case Monitoring and Fevered Clinic on Early-warning of SARS Epidemic

  • Objective This study was designed tO compare the function and effieaey of respiratory tract disease monitoring and fevered clinic monitoring in early-warning of SARS epidemic. Methods Data of respiratory tract disease monitoring and fevered clinic monitoring during the epidemic of SARS of 2003,together with the data of SARS onsets in that period, were gathered for statistic analysis. Results In monitoring of respiratory tract diseases, there was a strong positive correlation between the number of pneumonia—like patients and SARS onsets(PR=0.8572),however,there was no statis—tic significance between the monitoring results of fevered clinic and the number of SARS onsets.Conclu-sion During the epidemic of SARS,monitoring on pneumonia-like cases has certain value and better ef—fectiveness in early-warning of SARS than fevered clinic.
