Investigation and Analysis on a Case of Factory Norwalk-like Viral Gastroenteritis

Objective This investigation was designed to probe the outbreak characteristics of a case of factory gastroenteritis induced by Norwalk-like virus in Zengcheng City of 2004．Methods Speci- mens were administered ELISA and RT-PCR testing on the basis of on-site epidemiological approaches．Results There were a total of 194 cases reported．And from 6 feces samples and 7 anal swabs 0f 13 pa-tients，Norwalk viral nucleic acid or antigen was detected in 7 cases．Conclusion This outbreak of gas-troenteritis is caused by Norwalk-like virus and the source of infection remains to be determined．
