Establishment and Response of SARS Surveillance and Precaution System for Early-stage Symptoms in Hunan Province

Objective This study was intended to evaluate the results of surveillance and precau-tion system for SARS early-stage symptoms in Hunan province．Methods Monitored cases and pre-caution indicators were set up to carry out surveillance of early-stage SARS symptoms，and report,in-vestigation，lab determination and disposition Were made for early warning SARS cases．Results Be- tween December 1st of 2003 and June 6th of 2004，4 early warning SARS cases were detected and re-ported by the surveinance system altogether．Through epidemiological inspection and lab determina- tion，SARS was precluded．Conclusion Perfect surveillance system Can help detect febrile patients with respiratory tract diseases and pneumonia timely，corroborate or preclude SARS，and take effective preventive and control measures for public sanitation
