Abstract
Objective This analysis was intended to assay the pathogenesis of acute flaccid paralysis (AFP) and operation of monitoring system in Xing'an county between 1994 and 2004.
Methods Statistical analysis was made in terms of relevant data utilizing descriptive epidemiological methods.Results The report rate of AFP cases among children under 15 years old from 1994 to 2004 in Xing'an county was between 0/1akh and 5.59/1akh,with an annual average rate of 2.12/1akh.All results in years except 2002 have reached the requirement of over 1/lakh regulated by WH0.Cases took on a scattering distribution without any convergent trend in age,gender,time and region of onset.The within-48-hour investigation rate of the monitoring system,the within-14-day sampling rate of double qualified stool specimens and the timeliness rate of sending the sample to the center of the autonomous region within 7 days were all 100%.No wild strains of poliomyelitis were isolated in a11 cases.Conclusion The case monitoring system in Xing'an county for acute flaccid paralysis (AFP),which iS in accord with national requirements.Is effeclive and sensitive.Continuous perfection of conventional planned and reinforced immunization,especially strengthening management on children who belong to special populations,is the emphasis of work in maintaining and consolidating the accomplishments of nil cases of poliomyelitis.
