Epidemiological Analysis of Measles in 2004 in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region

Objective This study was conducted to better understand the epidemiological char-acteristics of measles in 2004 in Guanxi and to sum up the experience in measles control．Meth-ods Data about measles in 2004 in Guangxi from measles surveillance system were analyzed by using descriptive epidemiological methods．Results It was found that the incidence of measles in 2004 was 2.91/lakh．Being the lowest in history．Most cases concentrated in rural areas，but there were regions of high incidence in cities，with a rising trend of the epidemic seen．Children were most affected，cases less than 10 years of age accounting for 77.13％ and incidence of the epi-demic in the age group of 0 year being 34.63/lakh，which was higher than that in other age groups．Cases from outbreak epidemic constituted 22.22％ of the total cases．The main cause of measles was failure to inoculate measles vaccine for children．Case report and survey of the epi-demic were witIlout delay．But related serological indices did not meet the requirements．Conch-sion Strategies for the control of measles in Guangxi include the improvement of the rate of con-ventional inoculation，timely re-inoculation of measles vaccine for school-age children，planned reinforced measles vaccine immunization，strengthening of population flow management and eradi-carlon of blank immunization．
