Causal Analy sis of Missing Report of Infectious Diseases and the Countermeasures in Outpatient Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital

  • Objective The purpose of this study was to find the causes and countermeasures of missing report of infectious diseases tO provide information for the improvement of management of infectious disease report to reduce the rate of missing report.Methods Reports and logs of infectious diseases made from Jan.2003 to Dec.2004 in outpatient department were checked against the records in the register for infectious diseases in the department of laboratory medicine and the causes of missing report were explored.Results A high rate of missing report of infectious diseases (3.48%) was found in the outpatient department of the traditional Chinese medicine hospital.Put together,30 cases of 6 infectious diseases were missed from reports.The rate of missing report of infectious diseases was higher among traditional Chinese doctors than among western medicine doctors.Conclusion Training of traditional Chinese doctors on knowledge of infectious diseases should be strengthened.Also,management of infectious diseases needs to be reinforced through comprehensive measures,including encouraging doctors to be active in the related activities,to reduce the rate of missing report.
