Epidemiological Features of Pulmonary Tuberculosis in 2003 in Heilunjiang Province

Objective The present investigation was made to get an insight into the epidemio-logical features of pulmonary tuberculosis in Heilunjiang province．Methods Validated data from epidemic reports of infectious diseases in 2003 in Heilunjiang province were statistically analyzed based on the characteristics such as age，sex，occupation and regional distribution．Results Staffs-tics showed that those who were at the age of 20-50 years were affected most，with 19630 cases falling into the age group，accounting for 73.27％ of the total annual cases of pulmonary tubereu-losis．As for its distribution，the non-commercial areas in big and medium cities were involved predominantly．Occupationally，peasants，workers，students，the unemployed and the retired were major groups infected，adding up to 21870 cases，accounting for 81.63％ of the total number．Conclusion Pulmonary tuberculosis has a high incidence，mortality and fatality rate．There is no seasonal characteristics as to its pathogenesis．
