Analysis on the epidemic characteristics of measles in Haiyan County from 2000 to 2005.

The present study was conducted to gain insight into the epidemic charac-teristics of measles in Haiyan County and provide scientific basis for drawing up control strategies and decreasing the incidence．Methods Statistical analysis was conducted on the data of measles incidence in Haiyan County from 2000 to 2005．Elisa was adopted to detect IgM antibody in serum．Results 513 cases were reported in this county during the six years and the average anna-al incidence was 23.44/100 thousand．The incidence was 59.29/100 thousand in 2005．When the incidence was the highest since measles vaccine was used．There was significant season features in the onset of measles．The incidence of floating population increased year by year and the rate of cases with non-vaccine history was 85.31％．Eight outbreaks of measles were all caused by float-ing population．The cases were mainly the local one aged over 20 years old，which covered 76.76％．For floating population，children younger than 7 years old were the major cases，which covered 72.73％．Conclusion The incidence of measles in Haiyan County showed a distinctly in-creasing tendency．The extensive sporadic mode and partial outbreak mode coexited．Revaccination of measles vaccine on children should be well done while the basic vaccinnation rate of measles vaccine on children was kept at a high level．Complementary immunization，such as strengthening immunization or mop-up vaccination，should be implemented to decrease vacancy in vaccination to the maximum degree．Which iS sill one of the key problems in the control of measles in the future．
