The epidemiological analysis on the epidemic outbreaks of infectious diseases in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region from 1998 to 2005

Objective The present study was conducted tO analyze the epidemiological character-istics of epidemic outbreaks of infectious diseases in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region from 1998 to 2005，providing a scientific basis for the effective prevention and control of epidemic out-breaks of infection diseases．Methods Descriptive epidemiological methods were used tO analyze the epidemic outbreaks of infectious diseases in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region from 1998 tO 2005．Results It was showed that the epidemic outbreaks of infectious diseases had a trend of increase year by year in Guangxi from 1998 to 2005，with the incidences peaking in April，May，September and October．The outbreaks mainly involved the rural areas．Accounting for 88.13％ of the tOtal with a markedly higher mortality in the rural areas than in the cities．The epidemic out-breaks of A class infectious diseases decreased year after year with an increase in the B and Cclass infectious diseases yearly．Conclusion The public health prevention and control in rural ar_eas and school health management should be strengthened for an effective control of the epidemic situations
