Estimation of the scale of the population at high risk for AIDS and evaluation of the epidemic status of AIDS in Xiamen City

Objective The present study was conducted to estimate the scale of all kinds of the populations at high risk for AIDS and the number of patients with AIDS in Xiamen City in order to provide a basis for the prevention and control of AIDS．Methods According tO the 10 years'baseline data of AIDS of Xiamen City．the radices of the population at high risk for AIDS were estimated and the epidemic status of AIDS was evaluated by Workbook in Xiamen City．Results It was estimated that there were 73 239 to 189 522 people who were at high risk for AIDS and 914 AIDS-infected patients．Conclusion In Xiamen City。AIDS stilI belonged to a low-preva-lence disease．But the scale of the high-risk population was comparatively large，SO relative inter- vention．Prevention and control should be developed．
