Result analysis of the investigation of voluntary counseling and testing of drug users in rehabilitation centers

Objective The present study was conducted to demonstrate the feasibility of Volun-tary Counseling and Testing (VCT) of HIV/AIDS among drug users in rehabilitation centers．Methods 312 drug abstainers from 2 rehabilitation centers were recruited in the research．The VCT process and data collection were all conducted in the rehabilitation centers．All the data in the research were kept confidential．Results The HIV positive rate was 0.32％ (1 man)，while the HCV infection rate was 52.56％．And syphilis 11.22％．The sex distinctions of education levels of the subjects，the injection drug use proportion and the years of drug injection was tiny．62.50％ of them had injection drug uses 2—3 times or more．58.01％ of them had more than 2 sex part-ners in recent 12 months while only 17.63％ used condom with the last commercial SeX partner．18.91％ used shared syringes in recent injection drug uses．All the 312 drug addicts received VCT， and 92.63％ of the subjects claimed increased knowledge of HIV/AIDS．Condusion VCT in re．habilitation centers is a feasible and practical way to find drug uSers with high risk behaviors．
