Analysis on the nutritional status of children under 6 years old in Qidong City

Objective This study was designed to analyze the nutritional status of children under 6 years in Qidong city and explore its corresponding measures Methods The data of the nutritional statUS from children medical examination from 2000 to 2004 in Qidung city was analyzed and evaluated．Results The prevalence rates of both malnutrition and overweight of children under 6 years old raised 2.34％ and 1.19％．Respectively There were significant differences in the nutritional status for a period of 5 years．The prevalence rate of malnutrition in male and female aged under 6 years were 9.86％ and 12.20％．Respectively And the rate in female was higher than that in male．The prevalence rate of overweight in male (3.89％)was higher than that in female (2.45％)，and there was statistically difference in gender There was no significant difference in the prevalence rate of anaemia aged under 6 years old for a period of 5 years．Conclusions It is recommended that preventive and therapeutic measures of children diseases aged under 6 years old should be strengthened，advocating scientific and reasonable diet，rectifing unhealthy eating habit of children being choosy about food It is suggested that children should take in much more food containing iron microelement and vitamin C And health education，nutriment fortification and guidance should be emphasized to improve children health status by synthetic intervention
