Analysis on the epidemiological characteristics of measles in 2004 in Heze City and discussion on the strategies of its control

Objective The present study was conducted to understand the epidemiological character-istics of measMs in 2004 in Heze city．Methods Descriptire epidemiological analysis was conducted on the epidemiology of measles in 2004 based on the data collected from the regular report system of infectious diseases and annual statistics of measles．Results 162 suspected measles cases were report-ed altogether in 2004，with 146 cases confirmed．It was found that both sporadic measles and its out-breaks occurred with the incidence rate of the epidemic of the whole city influenced by the high inci-dence in individual counties Preschoolers and adults were predominantly affected by the disease And 19.19％of the confirmed cases had a history of measles immunization with no such a history ln 47.26％and uncertain history of the immunization in 33.55％of them．Conclusion It can be seen from the age of the reported cases and their immunization history that regular measles immunization is still to be strengthened．And at the same time the immunization of measles vaccines among older-age groups should be taken seriously．A1so，the measles surveillance should be reinforced further
