Analysis of the results of interview with unlicensed prostitutes in Lishui city about behaviors of AIDS prevention and treatment

Objective This analysis was made to get an insight into unlicensed prostitutes knowledge about AIDS prevention and treatment as well as the status quo of their high risk behav-iors to provide information for the establishment of intervclting mcasures．Methods Unlicensed prostitutes in different sites in the urban area of Lishui city were selected for face-to-face inter-view，Results It was found that the levd of eduction of urilicensed prostitotes in differenl sites in the urban area was generally very low with little knowledge about AIDS prevention and treat-ment They tended to have multiple sexual partners and use condom infrequently．Conclusion Sexual behaviors among unlicensed prostitutes in the city of Lishui ale likely to result in spread of AIDS epidemic．Special attention should be paid to the promotion and education of AIDS preven-tion among floating unlicensed prostitutes in squares and parks to enhance their awareness of AIDS prevention and treatment
