Investigation on the incidence rate of hypertension among the population over the age of 35 years in Congyang County

Objective The present study was conducted to get an insight into the incidence rate and the epidemic characteristics of hypertension among the residents in Congyang County．Methods A cross-section survey of hypertension was conducted among the population over the age of 35 years in Congyang County from May 29，2005 to July 29，2005．Results The incidence rate of hypertension was 8.08％in Congyang County, no significant difference in the rate found between male and female．It was found that the rate increased with age in both sexes．Conclusion The incidence rate of hypertension in Congyang County is lower than the average level of the whole country．
