Analysis on results of HIV monitoring for female jobholders in public places of entertainment in Dayao County

Objective This study was designed to understand through HIV monitoring carried out among female jobholders in public places of entertainment the knowledge of the group about pre-vention and control of acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS)，as well as the HIV infection situation of this group Methods A standardized questionnaire was used for the investigation，and blood samples were taken for HIV test．Results Among the 348 people surveyed，there were 4 cases infected with HIV，the infection rate was 1.15％，and the awareness rate for AIDS knowl-edge was 72.70％．Conclusion A system of registration and periodic physical examination for jobholders of recreation areas should be formulated，control for high-risk group and infected group should be stredgthened，effect of intervention work be promoted，and transmission and spread of AIDS be effectively controlled．
