Efficacy evaluation on comprehensive intervention of prevention and control of AIDS for entertainment sex workers in Dali City

Objective The study was designed to evaluate the efficacy of comprehensive intervention of prevention and control of AIDS for entertainment sex workers in Dali City in order to provide references for comprehensive intervention for prevention and control of AIDS．Methods One-to-one questionnaire interviews were conducted to those female sex workers covered by the program and compare between the investigation results and baseline results were done．Results The evaluation showed that the awareness rate of the knowledge about prevention and control of AIDS of target population increased from 75.50％ in 2003 to 88.30％ in 2005．5.90％ t0 41.40％ for the awareness of spread knowledge．Statistical significance was seen for awareness difference before and after intervention．Rate of using condoms with commercial sex partners at last time and in recent month increased from 89.40％ to 97.22％，71.27％ to 81.48％ respectively，not high using condoms with regular sexual partners，only always using condoms with regular sexual partner is in recent month of 25.33％ only．Conclusion Comprehensive interventions contribute to enhance awareness of knowledge about AIDS and security behavior rate for target population in intervention area，but the behavior change need continuous intervention for long time in order to get significant efficacy．
