A survey on AIDS knowledge, attitudes and behaviors among middle school students in Funan County of Anhui Province

Objective This survey was conducted to investigate the HIV/AIDS knowledge．Atti-tude and behaviors among middle school students in the rural areas for the implementation of ef-fective HIV/AIDS health educatiOn among the population．Methods Anonymous questionnaires were conducted among the middle school students in several middle schools in Funan County of Anhui Province. Resuits It was found that the total rate of HIV/AIDS knowledge among the 600 students surveyed was 96.3％ with the scores of senior students for general information were typi-cally higher than those of iuniors students．The scores for the routes of HIV/AIDS transmission were significantly higher than those for the non-transmission routes．Most students acquired infor-mation about HIV/AIDS by TV，broadcasts，newspapers and magazines．Conclusion It is impera-tive to strengthen HIV/AIDS-related health education with diverse activities among middle school stUdents
