An epidemiological investigation into the epidemic outbreak of tuberculosis in a special population

  • Objective This invesfigation was made to find out the epidemiological characteristics of epidemic outbreak of tuberculosis in the population reeducated through labor.Methods Tuberculin skin test,chest X-ray examination and mycobacterium tuberculosis test were employed in combination with epidemiological investigation.Results Twenty-six cases of tuberculosis were identified,including 3 sputum smear positive cases,17 sputum smear negative cases and 6 cases of extra pulmonary tuberculosis.With the incidence being 3.43%.Conclusion The epidemic is caused by multiple factors.No physical checkup for the newcomers for reeducation through labor,failure to manage the first case timely and regularly,and concentration of population in the labor camp are likely to be involved.
