A study on the needs of human resources for the management of information in the facilities dedicated to disease prevention and control at the levels of prefecture and county

  • Objective This study was designed to understand the needs of human resources for the management of information on epidemic situations in the CDC at the prefecture and county levels in China through a simulation performance of the criteria for the management of information on epidemic situations. Methods The 2005 version of the criteria for the management of information on epidemic situations was used.Eleven CDC at different levels and in different parts of the country were selected for the performance simulation of the working criteria.Man-hour consumption was recorded and the human resources needed were calculated based on the Benchmarking Management”theory. Results It was shown that 1093 persons were needed for the management of information on epidemic situations in the facilities at the prefecture level in the whole country, with the number needed in the facilities at the county level being 11,570 persons. Conclusion Currently, the human resources engaged in the management of information on epidemic situations are not enough to address the needs of standardized work in the facilities at the prefecture and county levels, with the situation especially critical at the county level.
