Analysis on the results of AIDS surveillance in Jinan from 2002 to 2005

Objective The present study was designed to get the knowledge of the epidemic sit-uation and factors of AIDS in Jinan for the development of effective measures for the prevention and control of the epidemic．Methods The sentinel surveillance was conducted among the STD clinic attenders，prostitutes and gays，with screening in vulnerable population and voluntary consul-tative examination done．Results The rate of consistent condom use each time among prostitutes WaS 13.64％：the rate of consistent condom use each time among STD clinic attenders when hav-ing sex with nonmarital sex partners was 5.05％：the rate of consistent condom Use each time a-mong gays having anal sexes in recent six months was 27.66％．The HIV-positive rates among STD clinic attenders，prostitutes，voluntary consultative subjects，gays and immigrant women in rn-ral areas were 0.059％, 0.065％, 1.02％, 6.56％ and 0.35％，respectively．Conclusion The epi-demic situation of AIDS in Jinan still remains at a low epidemic rate．However．Some risk factors which Can precipitate the prevalence of AIDS also remain．Therefore．The behavioral interventions should be further reinforced among the high-risk population groups．
