Observations and discussion on electroencephalogram of 3 cases of Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease

Objective The present study was conducted to observe the characteristics of EEG patterns in patients with sporadic Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD) and to gain insight into the correlation of clinical electrophysiology with the pathogenesis of the disease．Methods Multiple routine EEG tests were done on three patients with rapidly progressive neurologic dysfunction and laboratory findings consistent with CJD．Results Different EEG features in correspond with various stages of the diseases were observed periodic sharp wave complexes as the typical pattern. Conclusion Brain biopsy is necessary to make a definite diagnosis of human prion disease．And EEG is still of one of the most important tests in the diagnosis and the judgment of the clinical course of this disease entity．
