Investigation and analysis on the attitudes toward HIV infection and the detection result of HIV antibody of 125 drug addicts under compulsory rehabilitation

Abstract
Objective This investigation was conducted to find out the HIV infection rate of the drug addicts under compulsory rehabilitation and their attitudes toward HIV infection and discuss the intervention strategies toward HIV - infected drug addicts. Methods 125 drug addicts under compulsory rehabilitation were organized to receive the HIV antibody detection and a questionnaire survey on their attitudes toward HIV infection. Results Five of the 125 drug addicts under compulsory rehabilitation were found HIV positive (4.00%). 32.80% of them were worried about and feared AIDS. 34.40% of them were afraid of trouble their families and therefore did not want to go home. The percentage of the fear to be disliked and avoided by others was high up to 60.00%. Conclusion It is urgent to pay great attention to the living environment and life quality of the HIV- infected drug addicts who have finished their compulsory rehabilitations and enhance the management of them.
