Psychological consultation during voluntary consulting and testing of AIDS

  • Objective The present study was conducted to get the knowledge of urgent problems of inquirers and provide reference for the methods and contents of voluntary consulting and testing of AIDS in the future after the counseling procedure of inquirers was analyzed. Methods Separate consultation room was set up to accept the consulting and testing of inquirers according to the requirement of voluntary consulting and testing of AIDS. Results By the end of December 31st, 2005, 292 persons had HIV consulted and tested in AIDS Consultation Room of Center for Disease Control and Prevention in Suzhou City and 2 patients with AIDS were checked out. All inquirers all had psychological disorders more or less. Conclusion During consultation, the content of psychological consultation is as important as that of prevention and treatment of AIDS for inquirers. The consultant should have some basic knowledge of psychology.
