Analysis on AIDS related behavior surveillance of male long-distance truck drivers in Ningbo City

Objective The present study was conducted to get the knowledge of the change tenden- cy of AIDS and sexually transmitted diseases related risk behaviors with time among male long- dis- tance truck drivers in order to provide early alerts for the prevalence of AIDS and sexually transmit- ted diseases. Methods According to the relevant content and request for behavior surveillance (Guideline and regimen for comprehensive surveillance of national AIDS and sexually transmitted dis- eases), one- to- one spot questionnaire survey was adopted. Results The population had known the routes of AIDS transmission to a certain extent, but their knowledge on prevention and control of AIDS was not comprehensive. They were short of correct general knowledge on prevention of the dis- ease. Conclusion Propaganda on prevention and control of AIDS should be strengthened by mass media. It is a quick and effective method for prevention of AIDS that condom is used widely.
