Evaluation on the information quality of direct network report of infectious diseases in Baiyin City in 2005

  • Objective The study was conducted to investigate the performance of direct network reporting of infectious diseases, discuss the methods of online evaluation on the quality of directly reported information, and effectively direct the work of Grassroots units. Methods The data of infectious disease direct network report database in Baiyin City was obtained from Disease Surveillance Information Report and Management System. Directly reported data was conducted with SPSS software, and the methods and criteria of evaluation were uniformed based on the different duties of medical institutions and organizations for disease control and prevention in accordance with law on the prevention and control of infectious diseases and related rules. Results The coverage of direct network report reached 70.27% in Baiyin City. The zero failure report rate was 3.03% in medical institutions. The repeated report rate of network information was 7.67%. It took 7.05 days averagely to report infectious diseases after diagnosis, which was 5.35 days shorter compared with 2004. The timeliness rate of report was 63.27%. It took 5.38 hours from report to verification, the verified rate was 100.00%, and the timeliness rate of verification was 95.47%. It took 51.19 days from report to deletion of repeated cards, and the timeliness rate of checking repeated cards was 22.24%. Conclusion The establishment of the mode of Direct Network Report has greatly improved the timeliness of infectious disease report. But there were still prominent problems, such as low timeliness rate of report, and high repeated report rate, etc. Methods of online evaluation on the quality of directly reported information should be further discussed to solve different problems effectively.
