Abstract
Objective The study was conducted to investigate the health risk behaviors among middle school students in Shaoxing City, providing scientific evidence for the development of adolescent health policies by the education and health sectors and the prevention of adolescent risk behaviors. Methods An anonymous questionnaire survey was delivered to the students based on random cluster sampling. Results A total of 511 students were investigated. During the investigation of the last seven days, there were 4.14% and 15.78% of the students who did daily high- and moderate-intensity sports activities, respectively, and 24.85% of them ate Western-style fast food. In the investigation of the past year, 10.45% of the students often felt lonely, 16.76% of them had thought about committing suicide, 73.18% of them browsed on the Internet, 10.65% of them were unable to control their impulses to surf the net, 49.20% of them had violation in biking, 52.05% of them never fastened seat belts in the car, 12.62% of them had fighting once or more, and 2.56% of them had had sexual intercourse. In the survey of the past 30 days, 6.51% of the students had smoked and 18.54% of them drank alcohol. Conclusion The health risk behaviors among mid school students are not ignorable. Prevention and education focusing on the youth risk behaviors should be delivered.
