Investigation on chronic diseases-related knowledge, attitude and risk behavior among adult in Hangzhou

  • Objective The study was conducted to determine the distribution and prevalence of the risk factors related to chronic diseases among adults in Hangzhou, providing reliable evidence for the development of comprehensive prevention and control of lifestyle-related diseases. Methods Through random stratified sampling, 1010 15-69 years old residents from two counties and two districts in Hangzhou were interviewed in their homes, concerning their health conditions and chronic disease-related behavioral risk factors. Results The smoking rate and 30 d drinking rate were 57.64% and 41.20%, respectively. Smoking and drinking were common among male residents. The residents had not thorough knowledge of smoking hazards. 28.61% and 55.68% of the interviewed had tested their blood glucose and blood fat, respectively. Their dietary structure was irrational. Only 21.02% men and 28.88% women participated in physical exercise in the past 30 days. The overweight and obesity rates were 28.19% and 4.98%, respectively. Conclusion The residents were being threatened by their unhealthy lifestyle. It was of practical significance to further enrich the residents with health-related knowledge and comprehensive prevention and control of behavioral risk factors related with chronic diseases.
