Abstract
Objective The present investigation was designed to analyze the epidemiological characteristics of the outbreak caused by ECHO 30 in a winter swim team. Methods Descriptive epidemiological approaches were used to screen among the students in the palestra, sampling cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), blood samples and water from the swimming pool for laboratory test. Results A total of 37 cases were involved, all of them being the students of the swim team members in the palestra, the attack rate 25.18% without statistical significance between different sex.(x2=0.03,P0.50). The epidemic process was 9 days. The water from the swimming pool was seriously polluted, while six of the CSF samples were EV-RNA positive, two of which were detected ECHO 30. Conclusion Water purifying and cycling equipments should be running normally. Strict daily supervision and surveillance should be strengthened.
