Abstract
Objective The present analysis was made to investigate the Malaria epidemic situation in the City of Taizhou in 2006 and to provide evidence for further malaria surveillance and prevention. Methods The malaria monitoring and epidemic situation reports were collected and surveillance results were analyzed. Results A total of 68 cases of malaria including 59 imported cases (86.76%),were reported in Taizhou in 2006, there being 3 pernicious malaria cases. Blood tests were done for 12 771 fever patients in 2006, and 59 cases of them were found to be plasmodium positive. Conclusion It is seen that the situation of malaria prevention is not optimistic, and monitoring should be strengthened, and special monitoring of nomadic population should be taken seriously.
