Abstract
Objective The present study was conducted to investigate the results of the strategies for poliomyelitis eradication implemented in Xuzhou from 2004 to 2005. Methods 57 case investigation forms and following-up questionnaires of AFP were gathered from 2004 to 2005, and isolation of virus and antibody titer test were conducted respectively after collecting feces specimens in these case as well as pre-and post-immunization serum samples of first-vaccination subjects and serum samples of healthy subjects with the age of 0, 1, 2, 3, 4-9 years. Results The age range of 57 AFP cases was from 2 days to 14 years, and with 37 males and 20 females, who were distributed in 10 counties (districts). Those with more than 4 times of immunization accounted for 78.90%. Among children under 15 years, the morbidity rate of no-poliomyelitis AFP was 1.99/lakh and 1.67/lakh, respectively. The successful rate of basic immunization with type Ⅰ,Ⅱ and Ⅲ poliomyelitis vaccine was 96.67%,98.33% and 100.00%, respectively. The positive rate of poliomyelitis antibody with type Ⅰ,Ⅱ and Ⅲ poliomyelitis virus was 96.62%, 94.94%, 90.29%, respectively. Conclusion The results of poliomyelitis eradication in Xuzhou are satisfactory.
