Abstract
Objective This study was conducted to analyze the prevalence trend of STD in Taizhou from 2002 to 2005. Methods The surveillance data on STD in Taizhou for the last four years was retrospectively analyzed. Results The incidence of STD showed an increasing trend in each year. The STD mainly consisted of NGU, syphilis, gonorrhea and condyloma acuminatum. Most of the patients were local residents, the sex ratio of male to female being 0.9∶1. The youth between 20 and 40 years old were mainly affected. Farmers, workers and the unemployed consisted of the main STD cases. The married and those who had middle and primary school educational background were also the major affected groups. Conclusion The STDs were relatively seriously prevailing in Taizhou. It is highly required that the prevention and control of STDs strengthened, including NGU, syphilis, gonorrhea and condyloma acuminatum, combining with the control work of AIDS.
