Quality analysis of internet-based reports on infectious diseases in Anfu County of Jiangxi in 2006

Objective The present study was designed to gain an insight into the quality of the re- ports on infectious disease in the hospitals in Anfu County after the implementation of the direct net- work report system and into the existing problems in the field for the improvement of strategies for the management of the infectious diseases in the medical facilities.Methods An investigational analysis was performed of the quality of the reports on infectious diseases from the medical facilities at the county and township levels in Anfu County based onThe Survey Protocol for the Quality of Case Management and Report of Notifiable Diseases in Jiangxi Province(2006).Results It was shown that the actual report rate of infectious diseases and the timeliness in reporting in Anfu Hospital were dra- maticaUy improved after the implementation of the direct network report system,being 95.33% and 87.24% respectively.But there still existed failures to report the conditions with a rate of 4.67%,the rate being higher in auxiliary departments than in outpatient department and in-patient department.The rates of the card completeness and accurateness were 80.19% and 78.90%,respectively.Conclusion Comprehensive measures,including internal management of medical facilities,training of epidemic re- porters and supervision and instruction from CDC,should be taken to improve the epidemic reporting of infectious diseases.
