Evaluation on the quality of information from direct reporting of communicable diseases via network in the City of Taiyuan in 2006

  • Objective This study was conducted to find out the factors that affect the quality of the information directly reported via network through evaluation on the quality of the reported data on communicable diseases. Methods The data from the report cards and repeatedly-reported cards on communicable diseases from Jan. to Dec. of 2006 reported by the individual county(district, municipal) CDC of Taiyuan and the medical facilities under their supervision were acquired from the National Disease Surveillence Reporting and Management System, and statistically analyzed by different regions based on unified standards and methods of evaluation, with the quality of information reported by the individual districts assessed by the quality index method. Results There was no case that was not checked in the report cards of communicable diseases directly reported via network in the city of Taiyuan in 2006 with no zero and missed reports found, but there were cards that were not timely reported or checked. Logic errors in time existed in the report procedures from the diagnosis to the report of the diseases. The card-filling in completeness is poorest in schools and kingergartens. Conclusion The implementation of evaluation on the quality of the information from direct reporting of communicable diseases via network is an effective measure to find out the factors that affect quality of the information of communicable diseases directly reported via network.
