Analysis of CD4 lymphocyte count among HIV/AIDS patients in Beijing during 2006

  • Objective This study was conducted to investigate CD4 lymphocyte count among HIV/AIDS patients in Beijing City and to determine initiation of highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART). Methods Flow cytometric analysis were employed for CD4 lymphocyte count in peripheral blood samples of 180 HIV/AIDS patients. Results The mean value of CD4 lymphocyte count of 180 HIV/AIDS patients was 313.5 cells/l. Of 180 HIV infector, 46 patients having CD4 lymphocyte count lower than 200 cell/l which entered AIDS phase were recommend for highly active antiretroviral therapy, 134 infectors have CD4 lymphocyte count higher than 200 cells/l and were in asymptomatic phase. Conclusion The CD4 lymphocyte levels of most of infectors were low and decreased along with the clinic progress. The immune monitoring in HIV infector should be paid more attention.
