Analysis of the surveillance results of drug users in kashi district in 2006

An investigation was carried out among 372 drug users via the national disease surveillance points system. Data about the infection of HIV/AIDS, the knowledge about this disease and also the risky sexual behaviors were collected. Of those people, 9.68% was detected as positive with HIV antibody. Three quarters of the venous addicts shared the needles, and only 5.34% used a condom during sex. Knowledge about the routes of HIV transmission was extremely poor in this population.
