Analysis of EPI included infectious diseases in Hefei, Anhui province, 2007

  • Objective The study was designed to investigate the epidemiological characteristics of infectious diseases included in EPI in schools in Hefei. Methods Investigation and reports from various centers for disease control related to the infectious diseases in school in 2007 were collected for descriptive epidemiological analysis. Results A total of 35 epidemic outbreaks occurred in schools in Hefei, 2007, accounting for 89.7% of epidemics (39), with 638 cases involved and no death case. All school outbreaks were respiratory infectious diseases, most of which (15) occurred in April, May and October, accounting for 48.7% of the number in the year. Conclusion Rubella constitued the major type of epidemic outbreak of EPI included infectious diseases in Hefei, followed by chickenpox, epidemic parotitis, epidemic cerebrospinal meningitis.
