Analysis of the incidence of varicella in Ji’nan,  2006 to 2007

Objective　To analyze the incidence of varicella in Ji'nan, discuss the prevention and control strategies. Methods　Descriptive epidemiology method was used to analyze the varicella cases reported in 2006 and 2007. Results　A total of 2381 varicella cases were reported in 2006 and 4436 cases in 2007 in Jinan. Five varicella outbreaks were reported in 2006 and 2007, all of them occurred in schools. Conclusion　Obvious seasonal peaks of varicella incidence was found, and the most cases occurred among the children aged 5 years, Since varicella outbreak is prone to occur in primary and middle schools, the priority of the control and prevention should be put there.
