Analysis on the quality of direct network report of notifiable infectious diseases in Pingyao county, Shanxi province, 2006 to 2007

Objective　To analyze the quality of direct network report of notifiable infectious diseases in Pingyao county from 2006 to 2007, discuss the factors which influence the report quality. Methods　Report cards of notifiable infectious diseases by the Center for Disease Control and other medical agencies in Pingyao in 2006 and 2007 were obtained in Excel forms from the Disease Surveillance Information Report Management System to conduct the analysis of relevant indexes. Results　Compared with 2006, improvement were found on the report timeliness, report completeness and the timely verifying of the report and the report accuracy for notifiable infectious diseases in Pingyao in 2007. The proportion of 0.20% of reports were not timely verified in 2007 compared with 1.71% in 2006 （2=12.50，P＜0.01）. As for the completeness of the report cards, 1.78% of the cards were without filling the reporter's name in 2007 compared with 3.43% in 2006（2=5.75，P＜0.05）; and for 3.36% of the cards, the information about patients work unit was missing in 2007, while in 2006 this rate was 6.93%（2=14.02， P＜0.01). Conclusion　The quality of the report for notifiable infectious diseases in Pingyao county is expected to further improve by strengthening the training and technical support for the staffs in charge of the quality and management of epidemic reporting in the medical agencies. It is the only way to constantly improve the quality of the report of infectious diseases in Pingyao that the staffs in charge of epidemic reporting and management all carry out their responsibilities.
